Anti-abortion demonstrators hope to darken President Clinton’s inaugural celebrations with grisly abortion photos and a mock cemetery, marking the coincident anniversary of Roe vs. Wade.
“Everywhere Mr. Clinton has a party, we’ll be there to rain on it,” Operation Rescue spokesman Jeff White said.
Clinton’s Jan. 18-20 inaugural events overlap with anti-abortion protests of the Jan. 22 anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion.
Already, the Park Service has approved a permit for the Christian Defense Coalition to erect a “Cemetery of Innocents” near the Washington Monument on Inauguration Day. The display of 4,400 small white crosses is meant to represent a cemetery for aborted fetuses.
