Billboards Nailed Over Tenants’ Windows

A former local mayor will be hauled before San Antonio Municipal Court because he nailed billboards over the windows of an apartment house he owns.

City officials say the signs lack permits and are a safety hazard for tenants, who could be trapped inside the building in a fire.

The ex-mayor, Kurt Colyer, says it’s just another case of the city harassing a small-business owner.

The two signs, which cover some windows of a three-story home divided into rental units, advertise the former suburban mayor’s insurance company. “Why Peso Much for Insurance?” one reads.

Officials say the billboards either obscure or partly obscure windows on the second and third floors. Out of four apartments, two are rented, including one upstairs.
