Ritzville Makes A Statement

Area girls

Wilbur-Creston’s girls have won the last three Bi-County League West Division titles.

During a Friday league opener, Ritzville served notice that change may be in the air.

Despite early fouls to leading scorer Megan Yerxa, Ritzville (4-1, 1-0) overcame a six-point halftime deficit to beat W-C 61-42 at Wilbur.

Shannon Russel scored 18, Yerxa had seven rebounds and Jamie Alspach filled in well when Yerxa had to sit. The Wildcats’ Janelle Allen had seven rebounds.

Schreck hit 8 of 21 from the floor and 8 of 17 from the line. Liberty’s Jo Cory scored 24, on 10-of-18 shooting from the field, and added 14 rebounds and five assists.
