Soldier On Mia Trip Found Dead In Bed

A U.S. soldier in Hanoi to search for remains of U.S. servicemen missing from the Vietnam War was found dead in his hotel room, the U.S. Embassy said Thursday.

Earl D. Krepp, 28, a U.S. Army Specialist from Huntington Beach, Calif., apparently died between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Vietnamese and U.S. officials investigating the case said it appeared that the death was alcohol-related. An autopsy is expected to be performed. Krepp’s death is the first involving a U.S. soldier in Vietnam on an MIA mission.
