ANALYSIS

A Jacksonville newspaper article bemoaned Jags’ QB Mark Brunell being bypassed for the Pro Bowl. It failed to mention that ex-Husky Brunell, though No. 1 in AFC pass yardage, also has the most interceptions (20) and five others have more TD passes than his 17.

Still, Brunell is having a breakout season without the benefit of a reliable running game. He is staying in the pocket longer instead of using his agility when he hears footsteps. RB James Stewart could be limited tonight, so expect to see a lot of bulldozing Natrone Means.

The Hawks unleashed the blitz at Buffalo last week and had dizzying success. Expect more of the same, if nothing else to hem in Brunell and force him to throw a tad quicker than normal.

Hawks have nothing to lose and have a peculiar affinity for Florida (won at Miami and Tampa Bay this year, beat Jacksonville 47-30 last season).

Seattle must be sharp early. Jags have playoff ambitions and they’ll be stoked by a loud crowd and ESPN audience.

Jags put up points the last three weeks (28, 30 and 23), but Seattle’s D should be more successful. And after last week, offense owes the defense one.
