Caught Stealing Toy, Boy Jumps To Death

An 11-year-old boy jumped to his death from the seventh floor of an apartment building after he was caught trying to steal a $14 toy, police said Tuesday.

The boy, whose identity was not released, was caught stealing the toy in a supermarket Saturday, said a police source, speaking on customary anonymity.

After police drove the boy home, he ran into his little brother’s room, climbed over a railing and jumped out the window, the police source said. He died instantly.

It was not known what kind of toy he was allegedly trying to steal.
