A drill sergeant already accused of raping three women recruits was charged this week with raping seven other female soldiers.
Staff Sgt. Delmar Simpson, 31, is now charged with crimes against 26 women soldiers in 1995 and 1996 at the Aberdeen Proving Ground.
Simpson is being held in Quantico, Va., on the original charges of raping three female recruits, attempting to rape a recruit, sodomizing two privates and sexually assaulting two. Those charges involve eight women.
The new charges, filed Wednesday and announced by the Army on Friday, involve 18 more women.
Simpson was accused of 16 rapes of seven women and forcible sodomy of two women.
