A Sunnyside teenager has been convicted of murder for shooting a man in front of his girlfriend and their baby.
A Yakima County Superior Court jury deliberated for two days before finding Evaristo J. Salas, 16, guilty of first-degree murder and illegal possession of a firearm in the fatal shooting of Jose Arreola, 24, of Sunnyside.
Salas, who was 14 when he shot Arreola, faces 25 years to life in prison when he is sentenced.
Arreola was shot twice in the head at close range as he sat in a truck parked outside his Sunnyside apartment in November 1995.
Gang-related revenge was the suspected motive, but was not discussed before the jury.
