Messier, Hull Reach Milestones

From Wire Reports

Around the NHL

Brett Hull became the 24th player in NHL history to score 500 goals as the St. Louis Blues beat the visiting Los Angeles Kings 7-4 Sunday night and broke a team-record, six-game home losing streak.

Hull scored the milestone goal when he completed a hat trick in the third period.

Hull and his father Bobby became the only father-son combination in history to each record 500 goals. Bobby Hull, a left wing, scored 610 goals during his NHL career.

The victory was the first for the Blues under interim head coach Jim Roberts.

Messier reaches milestone

New York Rangers captain Mark Messier reached a pair of career milestones in leading his team to a 7-3 victory over the visiting Florida Panthers.

Messier scored a pair of goals and assisted on two others to become only the fifth player in NHL history to register 1,500 career points and pass John Bucyk for 12th place on the NHL’s all-time goal scoring list.
