Victoria, British Columbia

From Staff And Wire Reports

Ships and aircraft searched the sea off the north coast of British Columbia on Sunday after an overdue boat was found adrift with its two crew members missing.

The fishing boat was reported overdue into Bella Coola on Saturday evening and a coast guard ship began an overnight search for it in extremely strong winds, the Victoria Rescue Coordination Center said Sunday.

An aircraft joined the search early Sunday and the boat was spotted in Burke Channel, between Port Hardy on Vancouver Island and Prince Rupert on the mainland.

However, there was no sign of the two sailors crewing the boat.
