From Staff And Wire Reports

Dean Kleckner, president of the nation’s largest farm organization, will head a list of prominent speakers at the 1997 Pacific Northwest Farm Forum and Ag Expo in Spokane, officials said Monday.

Kleckner directs the American Farm Bureau Federation, representing 4.6 million families. He will speak Jan. 14, the opening day of the three-day Farm Forum/Ag Expo.

Other speakers scheduled include Chris Hess, tax accountant for LeMaster & Daniels; Art Douglas, Creighton University meteorologist; and Jay Penick, president of the Spokane-based Northwest Farm Credit Services.

Farm Forum/Ag Expo is the Inland Northwest’s largest agricultural gathering, with meetings and exhibits at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena, Spokane Convention Center and Red Lion City Center. About 6,300 tickets were sold at the 1996 show.

Exhibit space for the 1997 Ag Expo is sold out, said Dennis Fiess, manager of the Spokane Area Chamber of Commerce Ag Bureau. In addition to the 291 exhibitors, another 20 booths will be set aside to demonstrate welding techniques and “farm art.” , DataTimes
