Can Teens Still Find That Christmas Magic? Santa Still Brings Joy For Most Teenagers

Shelby Grabicki Lewis And Clark

Ever since I can remember, Christmas has been a mystical time for me, full of hope and a naive belief in an old man with a silvery beard and a fire-engine red suit.

This carefree man with the grinning face and mischievous eyes is known as Santa Claus. He’s the man who evokes a spirit that proves sometimes the constant wheel turning our life, creating our world, isn’t enough. Christmas is the time to give back.

Traveling from house to house through the bitter cold and many tiring hours, Santa brings joy to children around the world. He, if only for one moment, gives children something to look forward to and proves that sometimes believing is seeing, not the other way around.

Christmas, in my opinion, has always been a day for the child-like innocence to shine through in all of us. Parents, after spending countless hours building complicated toys, are transformed into kids once again - crawling on the carpet, showing their children the true art of the toy and remembering the many years of their lives spent with their own parents doing the same thing.

Children, on the other hand, rush to the tree, sparkling bright with colorful lights and unique ornaments, to excitedly eye the many presents as though they were a band of life.

So, we’ve covered the little kids, and the adults, but what about teens - the age group cemented in the middle? What does Christmas mean to teens now that they’re no longer little tots waiting for the first ray of light to break so they can run out to the tree?

Christmas is the one time when teens are permitted to let go of the cool facade they’ve adopted and once again believe in the magic of Christmas. It’s the one thing that doesn’t have a price tag in the teenage social world - magic.

Happiness that is spread through the simple act of giving and in the belief of the unknown makes Christmas the most treasured holiday in existence - for all ages.
