Here’s Licking At You: Bogart Stamp Rumored

Humphrey Bogart, star of such epics as “The African Queen” and “The Maltese Falcon,” may be honored on a postage stamp next year.

Linn’s Stamp News, a weekly newspaper for collectors, reports in its Dec. 30 edition that Bogart has been chosen as the 1997 subject for the Legends of Hollywood stamp series.

Postal Service spokesman Barry Ziehl said the post office is accepting all speculation on next year’s Hollywood stamp, but is confirming none.

James Dean was the 1996 movie stamp subject. Marilyn Monroe was honored in 1995.
