‘The War Within’

The extreme edge of the anti-government movement is erupting in violence throughout the country.

Spokane was hit twice this year with bombings and bank robberies.

To track this new wave of domestic terrorism, a Spokesman-Review reporter and photographer spent three months traveling to 10 states.

They found a secret national meeting of militia members in Kentucky. They interviewed a court clerk in California who was beaten up for refusing to file certain papers. They discovered a videotape that calls for an armed battle against the government.

And they pieced together a complex pattern of terrorism that no single law enforcement agency is tracking.

Watch for “The War Within,” a three-part series starting Sunday.
