Canada Opens With Win
Canada, coached by the Spokane Chiefs’ Mike Babcock, extended its World Junior Hockey Tournament winning streak to 18 games over three years with a 4-1 victory over Germany at Geneva.
Brad Isbister, Cameron Mann, Richard Jackman and Joe Thornton, scored for Canada. Canada, the four-time defending world junior hockey champion, is 26-1-1 in the last five world junior championships.
Canada (1-0) faces perhaps its toughest round-robin test today when it meets the United States (1-0).
