Undefeated Medical Lake Edges Cheney

 

High school boys basketball

Fred Miller came off the bench to secure 10 rebounds Friday, and Andre Jackson scored 18 to lead Medical Lake (7-0) to a 54-50 non-league win over visiting Cheney (4-3).

Jackson added five steals as ML beat its third Frontier rival this year. August Parker scored 19 for the Blackhawks, who made a late run before ML hit late free throws.

Lukas O’Dowd scored five points in the final 3 minutes and the Vikings (6-2) used an 8-0 run to open the third quarter to rally against the Indians (3-3).

Colville will play Lake City today at 1 p.m. All tourney games with Orofino were canceled because of poor roads.

The Trojans (4-2) had five players in double figures, led by Chad Quesnell’s 16, and pulled away from the Eagles (5-2) with a 29-point fourth quarter.

The other game, Bonners Ferry against the host WV Eagles, was canceled because of travel conditions for BF. Post Falls plays WV at 8 tonight.

In the tournament’s other game, J.R. Crowe of British Columbia beat Northport 59-48. The host Cougars’ varsity was scheduled to play Pullman, but Pullman cancelled because of weather.
