Wisconsin Steamrolls Utah, 38-10

Associated Press

Freshman Ron Dayne rushed for 246 yards and three touchdowns Friday night as Wisconsin completed an up-down-and-up football season with a flourish, routing Utah 38-10 in the Copper Bowl at Tucson, Ariz.

The Badgers (8-5) won three non-conference games before an 0-4 start in the Big Ten left them without hope of a major bowl bid. But they recovered with five victories in their last six games, the last three by lopsided scores.

And they finished in style, with the 260-pound Dayne showing off his speed and strength, and the defense setting a Copper Bowl record with four interceptions off Mike Fouts of the Utes (8-4).
