Alpine skiing

Schweitzer has an answer to all this snow: A bumper sticker featuring a powder-busting skier and the slogan, “Call in sick!”

Ski Bluewood will break tradition by staying open Monday. On Tuesday, Bluewood features a two-for-one ticket deal for anyone who brings in six Pepsi products, i.e., empty cans or bottle caps. Info: (509)-382-4725.

Tomorrow is Burton and Simms Demonstration Day at Mission Ridge. Snowboarders can test out the manufacturer’s equipment for free. Info: (509)-663-6543.

Nordic skiing

Expect a full and crowded weekend at Mount Spokane: 140 kids ages 5-12 will be on the tracks as usual on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. The Spokane Langlauf 10K citizen race begins at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Methow Valley, Newport, Priest Lake and the Spokane parks system all groomed this week. North Idaho’s Fourth of July Pass was groomed last week and hopes to groom again today if the mercury rises enough to run the equipment.

Snowmobiling

Priest Lake snowmobiling conditions are good west and south of the lake, but the east side is restricted because of a logging sale. Groomers will run only during daylight hours because of extreme weather conditions (-25 yesterday morning). Info: (208)-443-2512.
