Grocery Store Guard Says Teens Dragged Him Through Lot

From Staff And Wire Reports

Two teenagers who stole two cases of beer from a South Hill grocery store dragged a security guard through its parking lot as he tried to stop them.

The guard told police the teens were shopping in the beer and wine section of the Albertsons at 37th Avenue and Grand Boulevard on Friday afternoon.

One of the teens left and drove a pickup truck to the front of the store. Moments later, the other walked out without paying for the beer and got into the pickup while the security guard chased him, police said.

When the guard reached inside to retrieve the beer, the passenger grabbed the guard’s arm and yelled to the other teen to drive away.

The guard wiggled free and was not hurt.

The two suspects are 17 to 19 years old and white. One had shoulder-length, brown hair and is 6 feet and about 200 pounds. The driver was about 5-foot-9, 150 pounds, with reddish-blond, short hair.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Crime Check, 456-2233.
