The Slice Neighbor With Snowblower Increases Property Value

OK, we said we were going to revisit the difference between people who shovel snow and those who don’t.

After all, the reader who first brought this up did so in a spirit of fun. “Are native Spokanites more or less likely to shovel?” she asked.

But in the ensuing weeks, a majority of responses have dealt with the theme of lawsuits and which choice increases your liability.

So we’re just going to say “Never mind,” and move on.

Customer for life: Murray, Idaho’s Claudia Childress sang the praises of the Creative Images portrait studio in Pullman.

Dan Sackett writes: “Don’t you just hate it when the only stamp you have to send in your unemployment claim form says LOVE on it.”

How to win a bar bet: Study an accurate globe or map of North America. Then wager that Spokane is farther north than such and such a city in the northeastern United States or southern Ontario.

“Face Down in Fairfield Again”: So, OK, you can do better. Well, prove it. Send us your idea for a made-up country song title incorporating some Inland Northwest reference.

Slice answers: Responding readers - all six of them - were evenly split on the question of whether truly gorgeous individuals tend to leave Spokane because of better career opportunities elsewhere.

How to annoy people: Make a list of all the movies you can think of with “Las Vegas” in the title. Then substitute Spokane area places names. For example, “Viva Post Falls” or “Leaving Rathdrum.” Then find a co-worker who is really busy doing something on deadline and read your list aloud.

Warm-up questions: Which of Batman’s archenemies most resembles someone you’ve seen outside the STA Plaza? What is the Spokane area’s noisiest restaurant? What would people in hell write letters to the editor about?

Today’s Slice question: What Inland Northwest school district has the highest percentage of kids whose parents saddled them with far-out ‘60s-inspired names?
