From Staff Reports

Polls open at 8 a.m. today for voters to chose two of the seven people to serve on the Kootenai Hospital District board of trustees.

Sidney N. Smith, an insurance broker, and Lee C. Shellman, a physical therapist, are challenging board incumbents William M. Giesa and Dr. Duane A. Daugharty. Both Giesa and Daugharty have served since 1978.

Winners will serve six-year terms.

Registered Kootenai County voters may call 666-3496 to learn which precincts are assigned to which polling places. Questions about where to vote should be directed to the county’s election office at 769-4428.

Polling places include Lakes Middle School; Kootenai Medical Center; Hayden City Hall; Frederick Post Education Center in Post Falls; Harrison City Hall; Athol Community Center; the Worley Grange; Spirit Lake Civic Center; and Rathdrum Senior Center.

Bonner County voters will decide whether to approve a $3.8 million levy for a new library.
