Bill To Regulate Acupuncture
A Senate committee agreed Tuesday to introduce legislation regulating acupuncture and other alternative healing arts, but several members said they won’t vote to send it to the full Senate.
The measure would register acupuncturists, massage therapists, naturopaths, homeopaths, and herbal therapists. They would be required to disclose their training, and practice only within their expertise.
Thirty-three states license acupuncturists, including Washington, Montana, Oregon, Utah and Nevada.
The committee will schedule a hearing on the bill.
