Bruins Can’t Win In Pittsburgh

Associated Press

NHL

Jaromir Jagr scored his 42nd goal and 100th point in a wild four-goal third period that carried the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 6-5 win over Boston on Tuesday night, keeping the Bruins winless in Pittsburgh for more than six years.

The Penguins broke a three-game losing streak, which tied their season high. The Bruins are 0-10-1 in Pittsburgh since a 5-2 win on Jan. 2, 1990. It was the second time in less than a month that the Bruins blew a third-period lead to lose in Pittsburgh.

Around the league

The Ottawa Senators need to raise $20 million Canadian to meet costs through to the start of the 1997-98 season, the club’s chief financial officer said.

That’s in addition to the $20 million the team raised last spring to cover losses sustained in the abbreviated 1994-95 season, Bernie Ashe said.

The Philadelphia Flyers acquired Bob Corkum from the Anaheim Mighty Ducks for a minor-league center and a seven-thround 1997 draft pick.
