Deadbeat Public Workers Targeted

From Staff Reports

Public employees who fail to pay child support or comply with visitation orders will lose their jobs under a bill introduced Wednesday.

The state Senate already has passed a bill that would suspend the driver’s, hunting, fishing, professional and other licenses of parents who don’t comply. That’s part of Idaho’s welfare reform package, developed by a council that held hearings across the state last year.

The public employees measure also is part of welfare reform, said Mary Anne Saunders of Idaho Health and Welfare. The bill would apply to employees of the state, cities, counties and special districts.

The only bill left to be introduced is one that would kick elected officials out of office if they don’t pay child support or comply with visitation orders.
