A-2/A-3/A-4 Playoffs

Senior guard Amy Lemm scored a game-high 18 points and added nine rebounds as Moscow stopped defending Idaho A-2 champion Shelley 45-36 Thursday in the first round of the tournament at Wendell.

On the way to last year’s title, Shelley nipped Moscow 42-41.

This time around the Bears (21-1), who have won 21 straight, are in the semifinals and the Russets (19-8) are in a loser-out consolation.

Moscow’s opponent will be Sugar-Salem, also 21-1, which beat Bishop Kelly . Shelley plays BK (19-4) in a loser-out consolation.

Also at the A-2 tourney, senior post Tonia Burk scored 16, including eight in 2 minutes of the fourth quarter, to lead the Tigers (17-6) over the Badgers (15-8).

Today, Jerome will play Preston (18-5) in a semifinal and BF takes on Middleton (19-5) in a loser-out game.Junior forward Shelly Kulm added 12 points for Jerome. Sophomores Sarah Walter and Amber Paulson led BF with 16 points each.

A-3 Tournament

Challis squeezed by defending champion Clearwater Valley 71-70, Valley edged Teton 48-46, West Side beat Glenns Ferry 46-34 and Grangeville downed Fruitland 60-58 in first-round games. Valley (20-7) will meet West Side (19-6) and Challis (18-6) will take on Grangeville (20-5) in semifinals today.

A-4 Tournament

Lakeside 38, Cambridge 36

Jennifer Neibuhr scored nine of her 12 points in the fourth quarter and made a key steal in the final minute to help the Knights (16-6) upend the Bulldogs (13-12) at Jerome.

Today, Lakeside plays Troy (20-4) in a semifinal and Cambridge takes on Carey (15-7) in a loser-out consolation.
