Alpine skiing

Pack bags and head north for best conditions. Lake Louise on Thursday was in third day of continuous snow. Locally, however, Pineapple Express weather pattern has forced some closures.

Ski Bluewood: closed indefinitely after floods wiped out three bridges. Info: (509) 382-4725.

Mount Spokane: closed Thursday. May reopen today. Info: 238-6223.

Silver Mountain: Closed since Tuesday; could reopen today. Info: (800) 204-6428.

Schweitzer was only area resort certain to be open this weekend. Alpine Racing School Auction and Dinner Saturday at 5 p.m. Info: (208) 263-0775.

Nordic skiing

Warm is the word for nordic skiing. Spokane City Parks probably won’t groom again this year. Mt. Spokane didn’t groom Thursday; ditto for Priest Lake and Newport Geophysical trails.

Methow Valley is grooming. Last race of season scheduled for weekend. Info: (800) 682-5787.

Snowmobiling

Beaver Lodge reports groomers ran all all week. Cooler weather should mean good conditions. Wallace resort organizations wouldn’t even comment on conditions there.
