U.S., Chang Open Davis Cup Play
Michael Chang, who provided moments of high drama in 1990 when he helped the United States end a long Davis Cup losing streak, returns after a six-year absence tonight when the Americans play Mexico.
In the opening match of the three-day competition at La Costa Resort near San Diego, Chang faces Leonardo Lavalle. Cup veteran Todd Martin meets 18-year-old Alejandro Hernandez in the second match. The doubles team of Patrick McEnroe and Patrick Galbraith plays Oscar Ortiz and Luis Herrera on Saturday.
