Drugs, Bad Heart Killed James Brown’s Wife

Soul singer James Brown’s wife died from taking the illegal drug PCP and several prescription medications while she had a bad heart and was weak from liposuction, a coroner’s spokesman said Friday.

Adrienne Lois Brown, 45, died on Jan. 6, two days after undergoing cosmetic surgery. Authorities had ruled out foul play. After the autopsy, the coroner determined her death to be accidental.

The autopsy found she had consumed PCP, as well as therapeutic levels of the prescription drugs Demerol, Valium, Vicodin and morphine, said coroner’s spokesman Scott Carrier.
