Experts Say Few Doctors Help Addicts

Just a fraction of the millions of people who are dependent on alcohol and illegal drugs get help from their doctors, a national panel of experts has concluded. They found that most primary care physicians lack both the training and the desire to diagnose addictions, even though recent widespread changes in health insurance coverage have shifted more of the burden of doing so onto them.
