Man’s Body Found In Brush Deputies Say Unidentified Victim May Have Died From Homicide

The body of a man believed to have been a homicide victim was found in brush near Ramsey Road on Monday night.

Kootenai County sheriff’s deputies discovered the body north of Ohio Match Road after three teenagers reported finding blood on a nearby dirt trail.

Tuesday, investigators said they had not identified the body or determined an exact cause of death.

“We don’t know who he is,” said Capt. Ben Wolfinger.

“He had no identification on him.”

An autopsy Tuesday afternoon determined only that the man, in his 30s, died of “multiple trauma,” said Jody DeLuca, chief deputy coroner.

Other tests will be conducted this week.

DeLuca would not elaborate or describe the tests. She also wouldn’t pinpoint when the man died, saying only that “it was a recent death.”

The three boys - ages 13 and 14 - spotted an 18-inch wide pool of blood soaked into the trail in the evening, Wolfinger said. They were riding motorized dirtbikes in an open field.

“They went home and told their parents they’d found some blood and the parents called us,” Wolfinger said.

Sheriff’s deputies combed the open field and found the body of a large, brown-haired man about 10 p.m. Monday. Wolfinger wouldn’t say whether the man was dumped or dragged to the site or walked there. He was partially dressed and had several wounds.

The area is close to few homes.

Residents said it is a popular place for people to ride motorcycles and dirtbikes.
