Gretzky update

Wayne Gretzky spent 5 minutes on the ice at a practice and left without talking to reporters in Los Angeles. His right hip, injured in Detroit on Tuesday, is apparently still bothering him.

With the Rangers out of the Gretzky chase - at least for the moment - the attention focused on St. Louis, which has re-entered the competition for the NHL’s all-time leading scorer. The Blues are said to have sent the Kings a list of five players with two proposals - pick three of the five players or take two and a first-round draft pick.

Blues general manager Mike Keenan is believed ready to part with anybody but Brett Hull and Shayne Corson.

And the Vancouver Canucks have joined the hunt, although the Canucks are considered a dark horse in the Gretzky race.
