Two Tennessee football players who allegedly beat and kicked a man in an apartment complex courtyard are facing assault charges in Knoxville, Tenn.

Sophomore linebacker Anthony P. Hampton and freshman wide receiver Greg Kyler were charged with assault Saturday. Police reports show the two got out of a car and ran down Brian N. Forrest, 22, a university employee early Saturday morning.

Antespeed beat odds-on favorite Cara Rafaela by 2-1/2 lengths in the $156,900 Las Virgenes Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif.

Antespeed, ridden by Chris Antley and owned by Jack Kent Cooke, ran one mile in 1:36 2-5 on a firm track and paid $7.80, $2.80 and $2.40. Antespeed now has six victories in seven career starts.

In Heerenveen, Netherlands, Christine Witty became women’s champion at the World Sprint Speedskating Championships, setting a track record of 1:19.97 in her second 1,000-meter victory.
