Snowmobile Claims Another In Family

Compiled From Wire Services

A man whose wife was killed two years ago in a snowmobiling accident was fatally injured himself when his snowmobile hit a barbed wire fence.

Michael D. Staring, 35, died Saturday after the accident. Lewis County Sheriff’s deputies said the glare of the sun off the snow apparently caused Staring to miscalculate the distance between the fence and an open gate.

Staring’s wife, Caroline Docherty, died in January 1994 after she was hit by a car while snowmobiling.
