Man Chretien Pushed Won’t File Charges

Compiled From Wire Services

The protester manhandled last week by Prime Minister Jean Chretien said Tuesday he won’t file charges, but he will send the government a bill for repairs to his dental work.

Bill Clennett, a 44-year-old social activist, gained nationwide notoriety Thursday when Chretien - striding through a crowd - grabbed him by the throat and shoved him toward police officers.

The officers wrestled Clennett to the ground, dislodging a crown in his mouth.
