Office Project Touts Service

Compiled From Staff Reports

Developers of a new office building in the Nine Mile Falls area are trying to take tenant service to a new level.

The Salco Industries Professional Building offers tenants full-time client and phone reception, free parking, personalized security systems, and fax and copier service.

Three construction-related businesses, including Salco, a general contractor, currently occupy the building. Other tenants are Bowitz Construction and The Furnace Store.

In addition to offering service to tenants, the project aims to provide convenience for the businesses’ customers.

The building was designed to house a wide array of construction-related businesses, said developer Dwayne Radtke.

“This complex will offer one-stop shopping for the home builder in this growing area of Suncrest,” Radtke said.

Eight offices remain available for lease, starting at 250 square feet. The two-floor building has a total of 8,000 square feet.

Don Gai, vice president of Gai’s Northwest Bakery in Seattle, has purchased a five-acre tract on Spokane’s West Plains as a “personal investment.”

“There’s not going to be any bakery there,” Gai said. “It’s not feasible to put a bakery in Spokane when first starting out in an area.”

“It might look like it has something to do with the bakery, but it doesn’t,” Gai added, declining to say how much he paid owner Robert “Lindy” Dupree for the land.

Gai’s Northwest entered the Spokane market last fall when it opened a distribution center at 2616 N. Farr Road in the Valley, opening up four routes and employing five people.

Gai’s Northwest, whose two bakeries and myriad thrift stores are well known in the Puget Sound area, also has distribution centers in Moses Lake and Richland.

Gai bought the land, which is zoned light industrial, at the southwest corner of Grove and Thorpe Road. The site is across the street from the PSC Food Service distribution center.

Kiemle & Hagood Co. brokers Mark Lucas, Tracy Lucas and Jim Watson handled the transaction.

Considering selling a home but concerned that the ugly yellow linoleum floor in the kitchen won’t go over well with prospective buyers?
