Tomba Easily Wins Giant Slalom

Alberto Tomba ended a decade of frustration with a victory in the giant slalom at the World Alpine Skiing Championships.

Tomba, a three-time Olympic gold medalist, finished in a combined time of 1 minute, 58.63 seconds for two runs, giving him a sizable victory margin over Urs Kaelin of Switzerland (1:59.07) and fellow Swiss Michael Von Gruenigen (1:59.45). Lasse Kjus of Norway was fourth in 1:59.51.
