Jane Baker Chosen As Minority Student Intern

Jane K. Baker, a graduate student at Eastern Washington University, is one of three students selected to participate in the Minority Student Intern Program sponsored by District VIII of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

Baker, enrolled in EWU’s master program of science in communications, will help develop a fund-raising plan for the school’s radio-television department.

She is a 1981 graduate of East Valley High School.

Trevor Blackmer, a Spokane resident and a senior in aerospace at the University of North Dakota, has received his flight instructor’s pilot certificate with an instrument rating.

Kristen McIvor and Christina Wells were named to the Dean’s List for outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester at the University of Evansville in Indiana.

McIvor is the daughter of the Rev. David and Merrie McIvor of Spokane. Wells is the daughter of Thomas and Katherine Wells, also of Spokane.

Gary C. Randall, a professor at the Gonzaga University College of Law, has been elected an academic fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.

Michael Schultz and Tamara Vance, both of Spokane, were named to the President’s List for the fall quarter at the Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls. They are both majoring in medical imaging technology.

Thomas Fischer, an electrical engineering professor at Washington State University, has been elected a fellow in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Fisher earned this rank with his research in electronic signal processing and data compression, which involves turning voice, data and images into codes that can be digitally transmitted or stored.
