Approval Sought For Sprint Mark
Donovan Bailey’s record performance in the 50 meters earlier this month will be submitted to the International Amateur Athletic Federation for ratification, the New York Times reported.
The Canadian star’s time of 5.56 seconds on Feb. 9 in the Reno Air Games had been questioned by Bob Hersh, the chairman of U.S. Track and Field’s Men’s Records Subcommittee, because of a possible false start, but a review of a television slow-motion replay showed Bailey was not moving before the gun sounded.
