Insurance Firms Fund Safety Seats

From Staff Reports

Two Coeur d’Alene insurance companies are giving the Coeur d’Alene Police CARE team $1,000 to buy child safety seats.

Safeco Insurance and Schedler-Ballou Insurance companies will present the traffic team with the check at 1 p.m. today at the City Hall, said Officer Joe Denton.

The donation will allow the officers to buy between 20 and 25 car safety seats. The seats will then be donated to parents who cannot afford to buy them.

“We have found through the years that needless injuries are occurring to children who are not adequately restrained in motor vehicles,” Denton said.

“We’re finding that small fender-benders are causing injuries to children that never should have occurred.”

Those who need a child safety seat should call the CARE Team at 769-2273. , DataTimes
