Events Planned To Honor Mlk

From Staff And Wire Reports

The Kootenai County Task Force on Human Relations is planning three events in the next two weeks to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.

This year is the 15th that the local human rights organization has hosted events to honor the assassinated civil rights leader.

In addition to the annual program for Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene fifth-grade students, the task force is holding an Interfaith Breakfast on the Jan. 15 holiday and a Gala Reception at the Clark House Mansion.

Boise Rabbis Daniel Fink and Laura M. Rappaport join local reverends Mike Bullard and Grant McLean in speaking at the Interfaith Breakfast, scheduled for 7:30 a.m. at the Coeur d’Alene Holiday Inn and Convention Center. The cost is $8.50.

That evening, the celebration will continue with hors d’oeuvres, wine, a blues ensemble and a silent auction at the Clark House Mansion from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $25.

For information and reservations for the two events, call the task force at 664-6408.

Fifth-grade students will celebrate the holiday by attending a program at North Idaho College on Jan. 11.
