Doctor Gives Dodge Thumbs Up

Melissa Dodge has been given a clean bill of health.

Dodge, the former Coeur d’Alene and Lake City basketball standout who is a freshman forward for the University of Vermont, had a tumor removed during emergency surgery on Sunday night at a Rhode Island hospital.

Biopsy results came back on Thursday and “the doctor said everything is fine, it’ll just take time to heal,” Dodge said. “There is nothing in the lymph nodes. They’re clean, and the doctor said that’s very good. My parents are very happy.”

Dodge could be released from the hospital by Wednesday. She plans to return to Coeur d’Alene for a couple weeks and then, hopefully, go back to Vermont in late January. , DataTimes
