Agreement Reached In Boeing Talks

Compiled From Wire Services

The Boeing Co. and the union representing 22,000 of its engineers and technical workers reached a tentative agreement on a new four-year contract.

The Seattle Professional Engineer Employees Association said it reached an agreement with the world’s largest jetmaker late Friday. Details of the agreement won’t be released until after they are presented to union members next Monday, the union said.

SPEEA said it has already reached an agreement with Boeing over benefits. This round of talks was over wage and compensation issues.

“We think the negotiating teams have lifted offers that address the needs of our members,” Charles Bofferding III, executive director of SPEEA, said in a statement.

The tentative agreement with SPEEA follows Boeing’s agreement with its striking machinists union last month. That agreement ended a 69-day walkout that caused the world’s largest jetmaker to slash production.
