The contest between Bi-County League divisional leaders turned out to be no contest.

Topher Goodwin led four players in double figures with 17 points and Jason Pierce, just back from a broken hand, added six steals as West-leading Almira/ Coulee-Hartline (7-0, 8-0) ran over East-leading Liberty 71-54 at Hartline on Saturday.

Cameron Carstensen added 13 points and five assists for ACH, the area’s lone unbeaten boys team. Phil Rafter scored 17 for Liberty (6-1, 9-3).

Scott Kramer made a desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer, and the visiting Tigers (3-5, 4-7) shocked the Panthers (2-5, 6-7).

Leading 36-34 with 11 seconds left, VC went to the line with a one-and-one but missed. Odessa secured the rebound and set up a shot for Kramer, who barely played in the game. Jeremy Sandin had 16 rebounds and scored all of the Panthers’ fourth-quarter points.
