Singer Reported Distraught After Wife’s Death

James Brown and his wife had a tumultuous yet loving relationship, and the singer is distraught over her death following cosmetic surgery, his attorney said Sunday.

“They had their differences, their ups and their downs, but they’ve always been together,” Buddy Dallas said. “It’s not been an easy relationship, but it’s been an intense love relationship.”

Adrienne Lois Brown, 47, died Saturday at Century City Hospital, two days after undergoing surgery. She had collapsed at the health care facility where she was recuperating.

An autopsy was conducted Sunday, authorities refused to release the results. A news conference was planned Monday.
