Dollar Edges Higher In Blizzard

A blizzard brought much of the eastern U.S. to a standstill and a lack of economic news kept the lid on U.S. foreign exchange trading Monday, allowing the dollar to edge up against most major currencies.

The dollar had an “inside day” against the German mark, in that the highs and lows of the day remained within the highs and lows of the last trading session. The dollar barely rose against the Japanese yen.

The dollar was quoted at 105.30 yen, up from 105.27 yen late Friday. The dollar was worth 1.4395 marks in New York, up from 1.4385 marks.
