Literature Pioneer Carmen Conde Dies

Carmen Conde, a pioneer in women’s literature in Spain and the first woman to enter the country’s Royal Academy of Language, died Monday. She was 88.

Conde won Spain’s National Literature Prize in 1967 and again in 1987. She was appointed to the Royal Academy of Language in 1978.
