Man Arrested In Robbery

From Staff Reports

A Spokane man was arrested after leaving a supermarket Tuesday without paying for groceries and threatening an employee.

James E. Jones, 44, 1220 E. Newark, will be charged with first-degree robbery, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Department said.

At about 3 a.m., Jones walked out of the Safeway on North Argonne with a full shopping cart, authorities said.

An employee confronted him outside the store.

Jones is accused of warning the employee to back off while placing his hand in his pocket as if he had a weapon, authorities said.

A sheriff’s deputy later spotted Jones getting out of a car on South Ivory. The deputy searched Jones and discovered a hunting knife. , DataTimes
