Roland Rotmark Coeur d’Alene

Service for Roland John Rotmark, 83, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery.

Mr. Rotmark, who was born in Minnesota, died Thursday.

He moved to North Idaho in 1953 and worked as a millwright foreman for the Potlatch Lumber Mill in Coeur d’Alene for 21 years.

Mr. Rotmark was a woodworker and craftsman and was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Eagles Lodge.

His wife, Ruth, died in 1989.

Survivors include one son, Stanley Rotmark of Colville, Wash.; one daughter, Marlene Irvin of Boise; one brother, Ray of Bremerton; four granddaughters, one grandson, one niece and two nephews.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of North Idaho, 280 Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814.

Genevieve Duncan Spokane

Funeral Mass for Genevieve A. “Dolly” Duncan, 65, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Hennessey Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Duncan, born in Durand, Wis., died Friday.

She was a resident of Spokane for 36 years.

She was employed for several years at The Spokesman-Review, the Spokane Coliseum, and as a phone operator at U.S. Bank

She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, the Altar Society and Ladies Sociality.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Neil Martin and Kenneth Duncan.

Survivors include six sons, Thomas Duncan of Las Cruces, N.M., Mitchell Duncan of Bellevue, Wash., and Robert, Paul, Scott and Bruce Duncan, all of Spokane; three daughters, Camille St. Martin of Moses Lake, and Janice Liljestrand and Jackie Bakken, both of Spokane; three brothers, Bill and Jerry Brunkow, both of Nelson, Wis., and David Brunkow of Brandon, S.D.; two sisters, Donna Reinhardt of Aberdeen, S.D., and Pamela Brunkow of Minneapolis; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Ewald Klempel Spokane

Service for Ewald Klempel, 83, is scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Klempel, born in Germany, died Sunday.

A Spokane resident since 1977, Mr. Klempel was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church.

He came to New York from Germany in 1950 and moved to Spokane in 1977.

He retired from the Syosset, N.Y., school district, where he had worked as a custodian for 17 years.

His wife, Martha Klempel, died in 1985.

Survivors include one daughter, Ursel M. Lynch-McKelvey of Spokane; three sons, Rudi Klempel of Hollywood, Fla., Siegfried Klempel of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Manfred Klempel of Sun City, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Yvonne Cox Medical Lake

Memorial service for Yvonne Z. Cox, 88, is scheduled at 2 p.m. Friday at Medical Lake Community Church. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Cox died Sunday.

She was a 13-year resident of Medical Lake

Her husband, James Cox, died in 1987.

Survivors include two daughters, Sonya James of Vida, Ore., and Carroll Theodore of Medical Lake; one son, Douglas Salicis of Spokane; one sister, Lillian Dessaints of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

William Walker Spokane

Arrangements for cremation for William A. Walker, 90, were handled by Ball and Dodd Funeral Home.

Mr. Walker, who born in Sandpoint, died Dec. 30.

He was a Spokane resident for 50 years.

He was a foreman for the Armour Co. until his retirement in 1970.

Survivors include two sisters, JoAnn Day of Springfield, Mo., and Genevieve Walker of Colorado; and one brother, Don Walker of California.

Donald Jackson Spokane

Service for Donald A. Jackson, 67, is scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mr. Jackson, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Saturday.

He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 690.

He served in the Korean War and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jackson; one daughter, Diana Jackson of East Wenatchee; two sons, David Jackson and Mike Jackson, both of Spokane; four stepchildren, Doug Hehr and Rick Hehr, both of Spokane, Jay Hehr of Sequim, Wash., and Carolyn Bradford of Renton, Wash.; two brothers, Richard Jackson and Robert Jackson, both of Spokane; and six grandchildren.

Laura Franseen Spokane

No service will be held for Laura Margaret Franseen, 99, at her request. Hennesey-Smith is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Franseen, born in Calhoun County, Iowa, died Dec. 24.

She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1914 as salutatorian. She received her teaching credentials in 1918 from Cheney Normal School.

She married Charles Franseen of Edwall, Wash., and they both taught at Amber, Wash.

She held life diplomas for school audiometrist and lip reading and taught lip reading to hearing-impaired children and adults for San Mateo County Schools in California from 1935 until her retirement in 1958.

Her husband preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Robert Franseen of Montour Falls, N.Y.; one daughter, Bernadine Franseen of Moorepark, Calif.; one brother, Charles Linstrum; and four grandchildren.

Joseph Walsh Spokane

Funeral liturgy for Joseph Murray Walsh, 82, will be offered at 7 p.m. today at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Hazen and Jaeger Valley is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Walsh, born in San Bernardino, Calif., died Sunday.

He was raised in Long Beach, Calif. He worked for Union Oil and Richfield Oil refineries for 40 years in California before retiring in Spokane in 1976.

He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church.

His wife, Frances, died in 1985.

Survivors include two daughters, Pat Brown and Laurel Orr, both of Spokane; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Herman Baum Spokane

Memorial Service for Herman A. Baum, 82, is scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Baum, who was born in Farmington, Wash., died Saturday.

He was a 53-year Spokane resident.

He did upholstery work for 50 years.

He was a member of Eagles Aerie No. 2 for 30 years. He was also a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, where he was an usher.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Baum; one son Larry Baum of Bellevue, Wash.; a daughter, Nancy Baum of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Amelia Badt of Spokane; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Don Higginbotham Spokane

Funeral service for Don J. Higginbotham, 63, is scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace Cemetery.

Mr. Higginbotham, born in Tonasket, Wash., died last Wednesday in a truck accident near Yahk, British Columbia.

He was an owner-operator trucker for TWT Trucking.

Survivors include his companion, Marian Paxson; three sons, Ken and Kevin Paxson of Spokane, and Doug Higginbotham of Oregon; three daughters, Pam Sansbury, Diane Sassie and Donna, all of Tonasket; his father, William Higginbotham of Omak, Wash.; a brother, Willard Higginbotham of Portland; and 15 grandchildren.

Wes Thomas Spokane

Memorial service for Wes E. Thomas, 69, is scheduled for 3 p.m. today at Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Thomas, born in Chisholm, N.Y., died Friday.

He graduated from Chelan (Wash.) High school and served in the Navy in World War II.

He was an electrician and a member of Electricians Union Local No. 73 for 35 years.

Survivors include his wife, Connie; one son, Randy Thomas of Spokane; four daughters, Geraldine Knapp, Shelli Thomas and Debra Richardson, all of Spokane, and Cyndie Bartlett of Victoria, Texas; one brother, Ora Thomas of Spokane; one sister, Hazel Hodgen of Coeur d’Alene; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Cecil Newell Spokane

Service for Cecil Newell, 81, is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mr. Newell died Monday.

He was a graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, and served in the Navy.

He retired in 1971 after working as an electrical engineer for Tinling and Powell, Spokane Steel Foundry, and Atlas Boiler.

He was a life member of the Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Newell; one daughter, Karen McKinney of Spokane; one brother, Floyd Newell of Tacoma; and one grandchild.

Howard Trunkey St. John, Wash.

Service For Howard Trunkey, 84, is scheduled for 2 p.m. today at St. John United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at a later date. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Trunkey, who was born in Malden, Wash., died Sunday.

He retired from farming in 1974.

He was worshipful master of the Masonic Order-Coin Lodge of St. John and a member of St. John United Methodist Church, El Katif Shrines, Whitman County Shriners, Order of Eastern Star and Wheatland Grange.

Survivors include his wife, Gail Trunkey; one son, John Trunkey of San Diego; one brother, David Trunkey of Vancouver, Wash.; one sister, Agnes Ashback of Anacortes, Wash.; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Bernadine Wolfrum Wilbur, Wash.

Service for Bernadine L. “Bunny” Wolfrum, 75, was Monday at the Wilbur Lutheran Church, with burial at the Wilbur Cemetery. Strate Funeral Home of Wilbur was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wolfrum, a lifetime resident of Wilbur, died Thursday in Spokane.

She was a member of Wilbur Lutheran Church, Rebekah Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

She did volunteer work with the Wilbur Senior Center.

Her husband, Vernon Wolfrum, died in 1989.

Survivors include two sons, Skip Wolfrum of Spokane and John Wolfrum of Denver; one daughter, JaNean Brown of Shelton, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Dean Kalinoski Spokane

Memorial service for Dean Allen Kalinoski, 53, was Saturday at Liberty Park United Methodist Church. The Cremation Society of Washington was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Kalinoski, a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Thursday.

He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School.

He worked with his father until he started his own business, Dean Kalinoski Custom Framing. He retired in 1979

He was a member of the Corvette Club and the Home Builders Association.

Survivors include two sons, Brian and Jeff Kalinoski, and one sister, Beth Marsal, all of Spokane.
