Canada Upsets Honduras In Opener Of Gold Cup

Canada upset Caribbean champion Honduras 3-1 Wednesday night in the opening game of the Gold Cup.

Carlo Corazzin and Lyndon Hooper put Canada ahead in the ninth and 26th minutes. Presley Carson scored for Honduras in the 35th, but Canadian Kevin Holness sealed it in the 63rd on a poor play by Honduran goalkeeper Wilmer Cruz.

The Gold Cup, played in three Southern California cities, is a nine-nation tournament featuring countries from North and Central America and the Caribbean. The United States plays Trinidad and Tobago at Anaheim, Calif., on Saturday.
