Carroll O’Connor Testifies At Drug Trial

Actor Carroll O’Connor, whose son killed himself after taking drugs, appeared at the trial of the accused drug dealer Wednesday and said the suicide had ruined his family.

Hugh O’Connor killed himself last March. Hours after his death, Carroll O’Connor said drugs were a factor and led police to Harry Thomas Perzigian, whom he accused of selling cocaine to his son.

Perzigian’s attorney has said that the sometime songwriter is being singled out for stiff justice because of O’Connor’s celebrity as star of television’s “In the Heat of the Night” and “All in the Family.”
